About PetNutriCalc

Why PetNutriCalc exists, how the calculators are positioned, and what evidence-informed means on this site.

PetNutriCalc is an educational pet-nutrition project built to make common calorie, feeding, hydration, growth-stage, body-condition, breed-context, and pet-age concepts easier for pet owners to understand.

Our purpose

The site turns published veterinary equations and public guidance into transparent calculators and practical explanations. The goal is not to replace veterinary judgment, but to give owners a clearer starting point for informed conversations and routine monitoring.

What “evidence-informed” means here

PetNutriCalc prioritizes recognized veterinary references and primary or authoritative public sources where practical. Equations and outputs are labeled as estimates, important assumptions are explained, and claims of endorsement or verification are avoided unless an organization has actually provided them.

What PetNutriCalc does not do

  • It does not diagnose disease.
  • It does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship.
  • It does not guarantee that a calculated calorie or water target is correct for every animal.
  • PetNutriCalc does not claim veterinary review, certification, or organizational endorsement unless it has been explicitly provided and can be verified.

Independent educational project

PetNutriCalc is an independent educational website. References to veterinary organizations, universities, manuals, standards bodies, or breed organizations are used as sources and do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.

Corrections and improvements

Calculator logic, citations, wording, accessibility, and usability may be refined as issues are identified or better sources become available. If you find a calculation, source, or content problem, please use the Contact page to report it.
